Veterans of Foreign Wars - Ironsides Post 9561

Ironsides Post 9561 is located in Willow Creek, Ca - in the land of Big Foot and in the heart of the Six Rivers National Forest. Nearby are the Trinity and Klamath rivers.  The area is rich in natural resources and home to 3 tribes, the Hupa, Yurok and Karuk.

People visit this area from around the world for hiking, camping, swimming, backpacking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing (salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, eel), and for a chance encounter with the legendary Big Foot. There are local wineries, a Big Foot Museum, a Wildlife Museum, a 9 hole golf course at the Willow Creek Country Club, a disc course, and lots of friendly folks. 

In September, you can join us for Taste of Willow Creek and Big Foot Days. A Farmers Market is available on the weekends during the harvest season and the Chamber of Commerce and Studio 299  sponsor art events periodically during the year.

About Us

Our Post home houses a hall and kitchen that are available for rent, a canteen for members, and a mini museum. We also own the VFW Cemetery, which is located in Willow Creek off of Highway 96.

We are available to render military honors at veterans funerals or memorials and we conduct Memorial Day services at two cemeteries. Annually, we join the students at Orleans Elementary School for a Veterans Day program; sharing lunch, music and citizenship and flag etiquette education. We also serve as the Color Guard for the Big Foot Days Parade in Willow Creek and the Old Timers Parade in Orleans. We have adopted the 235th EN CO, a National Guard unit out of Petaluma, CA.
